LIC Maturity Calculator: Estimate Your Survival Payouts & Tax Savings
Planning for the maturity of a Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) policy is an essential part of financial security. Our **LIC Maturity Calculator** provides you with an instant, actuarially sound projection of your final policy payouts. Unlike basic calculators, this premium tool allows you to simulate and compare traditional **Endowment / Money Back plans**, **ULIPs (Unit Linked Insurance Plans)**, and **Term plans with Return of Premium (ROP)**.
How is an LIC Maturity Payout Calculated?
Traditional participating policies (such as LIC Jeevan Labh, New Jeevan Anand, and generic endowment plans) accumulate wealth over decades. The final payout is composed of three distinct segments:
- 1Basic Sum Assured Cover: This is the guaranteed minimum amount promised to the policyholder at the time of policy purchase, paid out on surviving the term or as a death claim.
- 2Simple Reversionary Bonus (SRB): A bonus declared by LIC at the end of every financial year as a rate per ₹1,000 of Sum Assured. For participating plans, this gets accrued to the policy annually and is paid out collectively at maturity.
- 3Final Additional Bonus (FAB): A terminal one-time bonus paid to policies with a term of 15 years or more. FAB is highly scale-dependent, offering massive payouts for longer tenures (20 to 35 years) and larger Sum Assured choices.
Understanding Simple Reversionary vs. Terminal Bonuses
While **Simple Reversionary Bonuses** accumulate year after year and become a guaranteed liability that LIC must pay, the **Final Additional Bonus (FAB)** is a terminal bonus declared only at maturity or death. Actuarial modeling proves that terminal bonuses heavily reward loyalty: a policyholder staying invested for 25 years receives a vastly higher FAB rate per thousand than someone surrendering or choosing a 15-year term.
Tax Exemption Advantages under Section 10(10D)
The biggest advantage of LIC policies over conventional savings plans like bank Fixed Deposits (FDs) is their tax treatment:
LIC Maturity proceeds (Section 10(10D))
**100% Tax-Exempt** from income tax, meaning every rupee projected by our calculator is exactly what lands in your bank account, provided the sum assured is at least 10x your annual premium.
Bank Fixed Deposits (FD)
**Fully Taxable** at your income tax slab (up to 31.2% at the highest slab). This drastically reduces your compound post-tax yield and erodes long-term purchasing power.
How to Use the LIC Maturity Calculator
